The simplest experiences are sometimes the best

If you’ve ever shopped at Costco with small kids, you’ve likely experienced an example of great experience design in action.

As you make your way to the exit, there’s always an employee standing nearby who checks your receipt against the items in your cart. (They’re presumably there to help you in the odd chance that – let’s say – a brand new OLED TV accidentally fell into your cart right before you left the building.) Most of the time, they mark your receipt after determining that everything matches up, and send you happily on your way.
